Guest Post with Morgan Rhodes

Book Nerd Interview

Morgan Rhodes lives in Ontario, Canada. As a child, she always wanted to be a princess -- the kind that knows how to wield a sharp sword to help save both kingdoms and princes from fire-breathing dragons and dark wizards. Instead, she became a writer, which is just as good and much less dangerous. Along with writing, Morgan enjoys photography, travel, reality TV, and is an extremely picky, yet voracious reader of all kinds of books. Under another pen name, she’s a national bestselling author of many paranormal novels. Falling Kingdoms is her first high fantasy.

Top Ten Reasons why the teens in Rebel Spring are different from modern teens

10. Rebel Spring teens don’t have iPhones. If they need to get a message to a friend, they will send a trained raven with a message attached to its leg.

9. Rebel Spring teens must deal with betrothals arranged by their parents who don’t take into consideration who they might be crushing on and instead might match them with somebody nasty.

8. Rebel Spring teens don’t go to McDonalds. They must rely on farming, gardening, and hunting, which is definitely not Fast Food.

7. Rebel Spring teens don’t buy their clothes in shopping malls. They must make their own clothes, or, if they’re wealthy, they will hire a tailor or dressmaker.

6. Rebel Spring teens don’t go to the movies or watch TV for entertainment. They might gather around a campfire and tell stories or, if they live at the palace, they might be lucky enough to have a jester to amuse them.

5. Rebel Spring teens are not required to go to high school. The poor are home schooled (at best) or remain illiterate. The rich have tutors, but girls are only taught “polite” subjects like embroidery and painting.

4. Rebel Spring teens don’t watch organized sports like baseball or football. They look forward to a good joust.

3. Rebel Spring teens don’t play video games. Instead, they learn how to use a sword or a bow and arrow so they can defend their kingdom from invading enemies.

2. Rebel Spring teens don’t watch the evening news or learn about court cases online. They find out about local criminals by attending public executions.

1. Three words: No flushing toilets.

Love, power, and magic collide with war in the second book of the Falling Kingdoms series

Auranos has fallen and the three kingdoms—Auranos, Limeros, and Paelsia—are now united as one country called Mytica. But still, magic beckons, and with it the chance to rule not just Mytica, but the world...

When the evil King Gaius announces that a road is to be built into the Forbidden Mountains, formally linking all of Mytica together, he sets off a chain of events that will forever change the face of this land, forcing Cleo the dethroned princess, Magnus the reluctant heir, Lucia the haunted sorceress, and Jonas the desperate rebel to take steps they never could have imagined.

  1. When I was younger I would actually climb this tree that I and my friends always climbed. I would usually go there when I wanted to be alone.
