Alexander Hamilton: Founding Father and Statesman by Brenda Haugen Review

Book Nerd Review by Jordan

A biography profiling the life of Alexander Hamilton, a founding father of the United States and the first Secretary of the Treasury. Includes source notes and timeline.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Brenda Haugen started in the newspaper business and had a career as an award-winning journalist before finding her niche as an author. Since then, she has written more than 50 books and edited hundreds more, most of them for children. A graduate of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, Brenda lives in North Dakota with her dog, Alice, who chose Brenda when she went to the Humane Society thinking she was there to adopt another dog.

This was my first biography I read. This one will always be my favorite. Hamilton is my favorite founding father. I never knew that Hamilton was the first Secretary of Treasury. Hamilton was an amazing founding father. Hamilton died a sad way though.

Hamilton served well for the war. Eliza was an amazing wife for Hamilton. As of today, there are two letters left that Hamilton wrote. It is very expensive to get. One day I just want to find his bloodline so bad. This book was amazing. I can't wait to read more about him.

  1. "Who is your favorite founding father?" I'll go for the ultra-classic--George Washington!

  2. My favorite Founding Father is Thomas Jefferson.

  3. James Madison kind of amuses me. He seems like the first American emo - really quiet and pale/sickly and wore black all the time.
