S.L. Dunn is the debut author of Anthem’s Fall, a novel he wrote amid the wanderings of his mid twenties. He has written while living intermittently in St. John USVI, Boston, Maine and Seattle. Raised on big screen superheroes and pop science fiction, he sought to create a novel that bridged a near-sci-fi thriller with a grand new fantasy. He currently resides in Seattle with his girlfriend Liz and their dog Lucy, and is hard at work completing the next book of the Anthem’s Fall series.

TEN THINGS YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME.
1) Hindsight is 20/20, but I definitely would not have thrown that potato across the room in junior year Home Ec.
2) I wouldn’t have parked in the staff lot every day. The bridges burned weren’t worth the convenience.
3) I would have read more. The back-to-back whammy of freshman year Scarlet Letter and Ethan Frome almost turned me off books forever. Though I’ll admit this speaks more to my fourteen-year-old self than it does those novels.
4) I would not have taken Anatomy and Physiology. No matter how you justify it, dissecting a cat is weird.
5) I would have used my creativity and explored new experiences more often. When you’re fifteen you don’t see yourself as closing doors, but it’s what happens.
6) I wouldn’t have driven so many teachers to an early retirement. Mr. Wait and Mr. Zopes come to mind. Sorry guys.
7) I wouldn’t have used the TI83 solely for stopping alien invasions.
8) I would avoid falling through that window during the sophomore year 24-hour relay fundraiser.
9) I would not have devoted my “library time” to researching armor in World of Warcraft.
10) I would not have crawled out of the science wing windows and into the parking lot to drive home when there was a substitute teacher.

MUSIC PLAYLIST FOR ANTHEM’S FALL
I’ll keep it simple. One song for each character—you can decide which fits whom. They’re all instrumental. I don’t want lyrics to blur a first impression.

1) El Pico, Ratatat
2) Orion, Metallica
3) Dayvan Cowboy, Boards of Canada
4) I suppose I’ll add the Terminator 2 main theme, just on principle.

Above a horrified New York City, genetics and ethics collide as the fallen emperor and a banished exile of the same herculean race ignite into battle over the city’s rooftops. In the streets below, a brilliant young scientist has discovered a technology that can defeat them both, yet might be more terrible than either.
Set both in modern New York City and in the technologically sophisticated yet politically savage world of Anthem, Anthem’s Fall unfurls into a plot where larger than life characters born with the prowess of gods are pitted against the shrewd brilliance of a familiar and unlikely heroine.
