SDCC: Mr. Mercedes - Jack Huston Interview

Jack Huston has distinguished himself as one of our industry’s finest young actors in film, television and theatre. He recently wrapped shooting The Irishman for Martin Scorsese opposite Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, as well as the Amazon anthology series The Romanoffs for Matthew Weiner opposite Aaron Eckhart, Christina Hendricks and Isabelle Huppert. In summer 2018, he will shoot the Netflix feature, The Earthquake Bird for Wash Westmoreland opposite Alicia Vikander and Riley Keough.

Huston will next be seen in the independent film The Yellow Birdsbased on the novel by Iraqi War veteran Kevin Powers. Directed by Alexandre Moors, the film centers on two young soldiers who navigate the terrors of war under the command of the older, troubled “Sergeant Sterling” (Huston). Huston stars alongside Tye Sheridan, Alden Ehrenreich and Jennifer Aniston. In addition, Jack also recently wrapped the comedy feature, An Actor Prepares opposite Jeremy Irons with Steve Clark directing and Above Suspicion opposite Emilia Clarke and directed by Phillip Noyce.

Huston starred in the title role of “Judah Ben-Hur” in Paramount’s retelling of the classic Ben-Hur. The historical epic centers on the years prior to those portrayed in the 1959 film, focusing on a childhood friendship scorned and the betrayal of a Jerusalem family. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov and written by Oscar® winner John Ridley, Ben-Hur also stars Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman.

Jack first gained recognition for his portrayal of “Richard Harrow” in HBO’s Academy Award®-winning series, Boardwalk Empire, for which he earned a SAG Award® for best ensemble cast. Huston’s additional credits include the award-winning David O. Russell film, American Hustle, opposite Jennifer Lawrence, which earned him another SAG Award® for best ensemble, Screen Gem’s film Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Kill Your Darlings for Killer Films, David Chase’s Not Fade Awayfor Paramount Pictures opposite James Gandolfini, Bille August’s Night Train to Lisbon with Jeremy Irons, and the Nicholas Sparks film, The Longest Ride for FOX.

In theatre, Jack starred in Hitchcock’s classic, Strangers on a Trainproduced by Barbara Broccoli for London’s West End.

Born in London, Huston attended the drama institute Hurtwood House.

MERCEDES Mr. Mercedes is an American mystery thriller television series based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King that premiered on August 9, 2017, on Audience. David E.
