The Gumazing Gum Girl! Chews Your Destiny by Rhode Montijo Review

Book Nerd Review by Chloe

Gabby Gomez loves to chew bubble gum even though her mother has warned her against it. It's not like she will turn into gum...except, that's exactly what happens! With her new, stretch-tastic powers Gabby can help save the day, but she will have to keep her gummy alter-ego a secret from her mother or else she'll find herself in a really sticky situation.

Gabby Gomez chewed gum everywhere she went- while swimming, climbing trees, getting her hair cut, everywhere. She chewed all day and all night. One morning, Gabby woke up with gum in her hair! Her sticky hair was stuck to her pillow! After Gabby got her hair unstuck using her mom's old remedy (peanut butter), she was told by her mom: No More Gum! On the way to school, Gabby finds in her pocket, her very last piece of Limited Edition Mighty-Mega Ultra-Stretchy Super-Duper Extenda-Bubble Bubble Gum. She popped it in her mouth and chewed and chewed and chewed. She blew such a big bubble that it hit the power lines above her! Plop! She was covered in gum. Not only was she covered in gum, but she could move, bend, and stretch like gum. So people are calling her Gum Girl. But she has to keep her identity a secret from her mom. Can she?

I really like how dramatic and unexpected it was when Gabby turned into Gum Girl. How cool to put her under power lines. The ending was exciting but you'll have to read for yourself to find out why! I hope there will be more Gum Girl books. Go Gum Girl!
