TEN THINGS I'D CHANGE ABOUT MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS IF I COULD GO BACK IN TIME.
10. I would care less about how big my thighs are and care more about being healthy.

9. I would care less about what other people think of me and care more about what I think of myself.

8. I’d ask that hot guy in the senior class out rather than just admire him from afar. He might politely say no then avoid me or even laugh in my face, but there’s an outside chance he may have said yes and wouldn’t that be something!

7. I’d be kinder – more patient – with my family, especially my mom. It’s not easy living with a teenager and she did the best she could. Living with my own teenager now has given me a much broader perspective – and appreciation – for my mother.

6. I’d write more. A lot more. And not pay attention to the opinions of others about it – just write for my pleasure, not to win their approval.

5. I’d party more. I know, that seems strange. A lot of people probably say party less. But I was a pretty huge nerd and spent a lot of time with my eyes in a text book. If I could go back in time, I’d take my teenage self out to a lot more parties.

4. I’d dance more. I’d go back and shake that booty that didn’t need Spanx to keep it in place way more than I did!

3. I’d listen to my mom more and roll my eyes less.

2. I’d say yes to that guy with the deep voice that stood behind me in chamber choir. Oh wait, I did say yes to him! I’d do that all over again.

1. I’d pay less attention to what others thought of me and more to what I think of myself. Yes, I know it’s on here twice, but it deserves to be said more than once.

“Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.” ~ Oscar Wilde (and my mom)

Roswell. Area 51. The X-Files.

You've seen the aliens known as "the Greys" in movies and on T.V. But what if everything you think you know about them is wrong?

And what if the Greys are only the beginning?

Erika Holt dodged death and departed Earth in an alien ship. It wasn't how she'd planned to spend her senior year. Is Erika on her way to paradise? Or to a hell worse than the underground lab she escaped?

The greys rescued Tex from the underground lab and promised him a life he could never have imagined. But what will he have to give up to become one with The Conexus?

Jack Wilson is still Commander Sturgis' prisoner, but a promise of freedom comes from an unlikely source. Will his liberation cost more than he's willing to pay?

On a nondescript planet on the far side of the galaxy, the M'Uktah have evolved from a wolf-like predatory creature into a highly advanced species that has mastered intergalactic travel. They are cultured. Refined.

And hungry...

Some of the most exciting sci-fi stories have always exemplifies components of out of this world phenomenon. Perhaps the biggest ingredient of all is the “what ifs”. Natalie Wright’s H.A.L.F. series is right on top of that factor and will have readers properly suspended in mental uncertainty.

The second installment in the series, The Makers, picks up where the first one ended and immediately drives the readers into a world of chaos. Although this can easily be a standalone book with the help of a glossary, it is highly recommended to start with the series. There are plenty of events happening in this story but Wright’s brilliant story telling eases the task of keeping up with multiple intriguing characters. She wisely names each chapter with a character’s name to aid in learning and identifying with them.

The fast-paced story bursting with plot twists and turns, will have readers at the edge of their seat as they follow Erika, Ian, Tex and Dr. Randall. The whirlwind of troubles and adventures they endure with the aliens known as The Greys, are expertly depicted through Wright’s writing style. Graphic scenes are important in stories like this as it provides a clear picture of what the author is trying to convey to the reader.

H.A.L.F.: The Makers grips readers into a story of wonderment and the dangers of a superior alien race that aren’t planning peace with humans. As threats seem to present themselves to the story’s protagonists, another one that is greater is waiting for them around the corner. It has all the right elements to keep readers intrigued and captivated. With enthralling characters in outlandish predicaments, Ms. Wright’s storytelling has found the perfect recipe of bridging her books all together in one fluent joyful reading venture.
