5 stars: "This book is a fun, fast read. I devoured it in an afternoon on a snow day and the time flew by. Overall, this book is perfect for anyone looking for a quick, cute read about getting a chance with someone you never thought would be interested in you." Taylor Fenner, author of Out of Darkness

5 stars: "I work with teens and this author nails it. She's captured the quintessential sass and snark of every teenager I've had the joy of working with in high school. So much fun!" Victoria Bunce, Teacher/Advocate

Naturally, I love all the characters in the Grad Night series, but I did have an especially fun time getting to dive into Jade’s character in Love Beyond Opposites.

Lennon and Jade’s story is one I thought of first, despite it being the final standalone in the series. I’ve wanted to write their story since the first moment they were on the page, but actually diving into her character was super rewarding.

She’s a mathlete. She loves Star Wars and Marvel movies and she’s totally not ashamed of it. She’s a smart, strong, beautiful, and proud nerd. But, she also has separate passions other than crunching numbers. Those passions are what really grounded me in her character—these little hidden gems in her personality that only came out over the course of her grad night. She’s multi-talented and just like with Lennon, there is more to her than her mathlete status.

I believe that is why she is able to understand and see the real Lennon—the one underneath the rocker persona—because she knows what it is like to be stereotyped. The fact that she calls him on what he tries to hide, and him for her, only proves for an intense dynamic I loved writing. There was something magical about these two characters for me, and I’m so happy they are now out in the world for people to meet. It’s a slightly bitter-sweet moment, since it’s the final installment, but these characters aren’t going to let go of me anytime soon J

1) That warmth? The thing that pulsed and thrived and begged to be acknowledged? It was her presence. The mere sight of this girl was enough to trigger something inside me I’d never felt before—something I couldn’t possibly describe but instantly wanted to hold onto forever.

2) Jade had made me forget everything outside of her smile, her laugh, the way she smelled like sugar and violets and something that made my mouth water.

3) Sweet merciful marvel hero he is gorgeous. I hated that he did this to me every time I saw him. I knew what he looked like, knew we were just friends, but damn it didn’t stop me from admiring him.

4) His presence filled the space like a charge of electricity I wanted to touch to see if I felt the spark—an irresistible curiosity. He smelled like leather and spice, and I couldn’t help but inhale deeply as he continued to stare at me, like he’d wait forever for an answer.

5) His signature wolfish grin shaped his lips. “It’s our last night as the mathlete and the rock star after all. Wouldn’t want to waste it.”

6) “You think just because I’m a nerd I don’t curse?”

“Not at all.” I shook my head, my hands raised in defense. “I’ve just never heard someone as pretty as you talk dirty before.”

7) “Jade,” he said, licking his lips. Something crackled between us and featherlight sparks teased my skin until I had to hold my breath to stop from shaking.

8) Lennon’s grin was worth my decision to commit my first crime

9) She tasted like cherry lip gloss and mint, and the longer she melted into me the more everything else faded into nothingness.

10) I tilted my head at him. “You’re stranded in the middle of nowhere, sitting on top of an ancient car, missing out on the most epic party of our high school careers. How could it be worse?”
“I could be stranded without you.”

If high school has taught mathlete Jade Aaron anything, it's that nerds never get the guy.

So when rock star Lennon Pryor starts pursuing her, It's not rocket science. This doesn't add up.

I mean, sure, he's hot.

And charming.

And a god on the guitar...

But he's also the world's biggest player. Being with him would be a bigger mistake than 2+2=5.

Until graduation night, when a reckless moment leads to a reckless kiss. And now Jade's falling for the one guy destined to break her heart.
