HollyShorts: Civil - Stephen Takashima Interview

Stephen Takashima is a filmmaker with experience in videography, non-linear editing, VFX, and 3D rendering/animation, and have a passion for making connections with people through art and story.

Stephen Takashima is in constant exploration of how to tell better stories and create moving experiences, especially through filmmaking. Stephen
 hopes that as he continue to pursue excellence in storytelling and hone in his craft, his work passes beyond either hobby or utility into something that truly engages and stretches people.

Bryson L Thomas is an actor, known for Chicago Fire (2012), Concessions (2015) and Civil(2017).

Kevin Bodee ― Remi

Michael Vizzi ― Sam
Michael Vizzi is an actor and writer, known for Just Friends Forever (2017), Civil (2017) and Venere (2018).

Jillian Warden ― Tiff
Jillian Warden is an actor, known for Civil (2017).



Walt Sloan ― Marshall
Walt Sloan has appeared in over 20 plays in the Chicago area, over 80 films and television productions, in several national and regional commercials, and numerous industrial and educational films.

He has appeared in supporting roles in several award-winning short and feature films, including "4 and a Half Terrorists," winner of the 2008 Chicago Comedy TV Pilot Competition. Walt had a lead role in "Only Thunder," awarded First Place in the short film category at the 2013 Sunset International Film Festival in Los Angeles, and a lead role in "Fate Accompli," winner of Best Thriller Short in the 2014 Illinois International Film Festival. He also had a supporting role in "Return to the Hiding Place," winner of Best Feature and Audience Choice Award at the 2013 San Antonio Christian Film Festival, and a lead role in "Day 1," winner of Best Guerrilla Feature at the 2016 Action on Film International Film Festival. As a writer, he received a Best Screenplay Award in 2011 for his religious thriller "The Salus Imperative."

In addition to acting and writing, Walt sings bass/baritone with The Buckthorns, a 12-member mixed a cappella group that has been performing in the Chicago area since 1995.

LOCATION: HOLLYSHORTS, THE CHINESE THEATER, HOLLYWOOD, CA ― AUGUST 9TH - 18TH
INTERVIEW: AUGUST 12, 2018

HollyShorts takes place August 9-18, 2018 at the TCL Chinese Theater, Harmony Gold Theater and other locations in Hollywood. Nearly 400 short films will compete for the festival’s top prizes. Last year HollyShorts finalists included 3 out of the 5 Live Action Oscar nominees and the winning short Silent Child from Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton. This year, HollyShorts received an all-time record 5,000 submissions from over 80 countries. The competition will feature Live Action, Animation and Documentary Shorts as well as web series, student shorts, music videos, TV pilots, and VR. The festival also features a screenplay competition where the winning short gets greenlit, shot and shown at next year’s festival courtesy of Seattle Film Summit.
