Ryan Hendrick is a multi-award winning and BAFTA Nominated film director and actor. Credits include Choices, Minds of Glass, Besieged, Falling & Perfect Strangers. He is also a skilled editor and camera operator in the field of Video Journalism and Corporate Video Production.

From as little as seven years old Ryan became fascinated by the creativity of film, starting with small writing projects he continued to develop his ability in screen writing until the age of fifteen when he made his first amateur film with friends and family, that amateur film was later remade as a no budget feature film, although still very much an amateur film maker, Ryan aspired to build up his skill to where he is now currently an Independent Film Maker.

In 2005 Ryan turned to talents in front of the camera, training for two years in Acting & Performance primarily at Stow College, then furthering that training with an Acting for Camera course taught by industry professionals such as Kahleen Crawford and Robert Carlyle.

Ryan gained agent representation as a result of his short film Choices, in which he directed and starred in alongside renowned actress Fletcher Mathers.

Earning acclaim as both an actor and producer for the high end produced Doctor Who / Alien fan film crossover film Besieged, traveling the world of sci-fi conventions and comic cons as well as receiving great audience numbers online.

Most recently Ryan's festive short film Perfect Strangers screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2015 as well as a number of festivals around the world, including a BAFTA Nomination for Best Actress Clare Sheerin.

ABOUT MAGIC MONKEY FILMS
Magic Monkey Films was established in 2012 by Award Winning Filmmakers Ryan Hendrick & David Newman to develop and produce optimistic and commercial cinema. Their catalogue includes the music video for Dear Mama, Falling and the multi-award winning and BAFTA nominated short film Perfect Strangers. BAFTA Award winning Producer David Brown (The Inescapable Arrival of Lazlo Petushki) joined the company in 2017 to produce the short film Sundown and upcoming feature film JOURNEY BOUND.

Their current feature film slate includes Scottish road movie comedy JOURNEY BOUND and a feature adaptation of the 2015 award winning short PERFECT STRANGERS.

Sundown will be the next stage of our company's development, we hope to propel Sundown beyond the level of success that Perfect Strangers was able to obtain.

Sundown is the story about how a person’s perception of life can change once they accept their own mortality. We go through life fearing death for the longest time. An inherent subconscious thought of a distant certainty. So when you reach a point in our lives when death looms, you can either deny the inevitable, or embrace your mortality and begin to live life unafraid of its conclusion.
