HollyShorts: Untethered - Laura Sweeney Interview

Laura Sweeney is a director, writer, actress and the Creative Director of Fresh Cup Productions LLC. She has worked with such notable directors and actors as Austin Pendleton, Bradley Cooper, Sidney Lumet, Oleg Tabokov and Achim Freyer. She has had television projects optioned by North South Productions and currently has a feature film in development with Two Ton Films. She is the writer/director and lead actor of the webseries, The Mothership.

A native New Yorker, she’s worked with People Magazine, The Meredith Corporation, MTV, H2O Productions, Mannic Media, Media Mechanix, and Curious Pictures. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, The Georgetown Entertainment Media Alliance, and New York Women In Film and Television. She also is a script consultant and teaches screenwriting for Writers Boot Camp. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and The Sorbonne Paris III. She trained in Acting with the Moscow Art Theatre and performed at the Lincoln Center Festival.

HollyShorts Film Festival (HSFF) is an annual short film festival showcasing the best and brightest short films and short screenplays from around the globe. The festival showcases the top short films produced 40 minutes or less and is looking for the best short screenplays 20 pages or less.

INTERVIEW: AUGUST 12, 2018

HollyShorts takes place August 9-18, 2018 at the TCL Chinese Theater, Harmony Gold Theater and other locations in Hollywood. Nearly 400 short films will compete for the festival’s top prizes. Last year HollyShorts finalists included 3 out of the 5 Live Action Oscar nominees and the winning short Silent Child from Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton. This year, HollyShorts received an all-time record 5,000 submissions from over 80 countries. The competition will feature Live Action, Animation and Documentary Shorts as well as web series, student shorts, music videos, TV pilots, and VR. The festival also features a screenplay competition where the winning short gets greenlit, shot and shown at next year’s festival courtesy of Seattle Film Summit.
