HollyShorts - Wide Awake in Bridgewater Cast Interview

Fresh faced, experienced, and driven, David Snyder is a creative residing in Los Angeles. Raised in North Dakota, David dove into performing at an early age, starring in live shows, recitals, and musicals such as Aladdin, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, Once Upon a Mattress, and Sherlock Holmes. From choirs, to bands, to solos, to theater, to piano, to guitar, to public speaking, to performances, David occupied himself and succeeded in many artistic and creative ventures.

Upon training in Chicago, Illinois and performing in Orlando, Florida, David Snyder quickly transitioned to Los Angeles--where he began screen acting, print modeling, music involvement, and fit modeling. with leading roles in pilots such as Sick, directed by Valerie McCaffery and In Between, directed by JP Lucking, and starring in short films such as Lake, Trouble Down Bridgewater, and Escape, David's theatrical background proved to skyrocket him into his on-camera career. In addition, David quickly transitioned to commercial acting and modeling, booking print and commercial jobs for Visit WeHo, Newport Academy, Ring of Fire Clothing, and Alo Yoga.



Beginning in late 2017, Wide Awake in Bridgewater creator, Erik Lee, emerges with a short script adapted from his feature script of the same title, and begins production. Erik, has spent more than 20 years producing creative work for others. He now reemerges on the creative scene by writing, producing, directing, and editing Wide Awake in 2017 - 2018. Thankful for countless hours of support from professionals and emerging artists, Wide Awake in Bridgewater is coming to festival screens this year and next. 


Our short story emerges in 1968, young Michael Gates is enjoying a beautiful day in the countryside with his childhood sweetheart Monica Dupre. They stumble upon what appears to be a military testing facility and their worlds are rocked by tragedy. 50 years later, elderly Michael starts receiving phone messages from his high school sweetheart, and we discover what happened that fateful day. It will change his destiny forever...


An elderly man receives a phone message on his answering machine from his adolescent girl friend who disappeared 50 years ago. He dreams about his last encounter with her and travels home to find she is still alive.

HollyShorts takes place August 9-18, 2018 at the TCL Chinese Theater, Harmony Gold Theater and other locations in Hollywood. Nearly 400 short films will compete for the festival’s top prizes. Last year HollyShorts finalists included 3 out of the 5 Live Action Oscar nominees and the winning short Silent Child from Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton. This year, HollyShorts received an all-time record 5,000 submissions from over 80 countries. The competition will feature Live Action, Animation and Documentary Shorts as well as web series, student shorts, music videos, TV pilots, and VR. The festival also features a screenplay competition where the winning short gets greenlit, shot and shown at next year’s festival courtesy of Seattle Film Summit.
