Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
My most rewarding experience is always getting to read the reviews and feedback from my readers. To see how they engage with my writing, and their connection to characters, some of which (I will admit) I had thought of myself as sub-plot! They see things through different lenses than me, and I love to see their version of events.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received from another author?
Write because you love it, not because you want to sell it. For me writing is like breathing, and I have to do it regularly and often for my own mental health and wellbeing. But I don’t write to market, I write whatever gives me inspiration.

Beyond your own work (of course), what is your all-time favorite book?
Steppenwolf, by Hermann Hesse. An exploration of the duality of mankind in beautiful summation.

Greatest thing you learned in school.
Not to give up and that peer pressure shouldn’t push you to do things against your fundamental beliefs. If it feels wrong, it probably is.

What are some of your current and future projects that you can share with us?
I am currently working on two books which are both nearly finished. One is a paranormal, with lots of sass and mystery. The other is a investigation into personality, and how others might influence us (willingly or not!).

In your newest book; REVENGE SEEKER, can you tell my Book Nerd community a little about it.
Jess has only just discovered she can move between worlds. As heir apparent to the royal crown, she is both sought after and in great danger. None more so than from the members of her own family. But running from her deranged Grandfather who killed her father hasn’t worked. Will confronting him be any better? She is seeking revenge, but how similar is she to the man that she now loathes?

TEN REASONS TO READ REVENGE SEEKER
  • 1. The twists and turns will keep you guessing
  • 2. It offers adventure from the safety of your armchair
  • 3. I hope this book will get you thinking about theology
  • 4. There are limitless worlds, so let your imagination fly!
  • 5. You will fall in love with the characters
  • 6. Heroes, villains and some who are a bit of both…
  • 7. Its about family.
  • 8. It’s a beautiful blend of fantasy and science
  • 9. There are two books in this series, so you have more to read
  • 10. The series isn’t finished yet, can you guess the ending?
What do you hope for readers to be thinking when they read your novel?
I hope that they enjoy the adventure and thrill of the story, but mostly I want to excite their imaginations. In a book where worlds have no limitations I hope they can find themselves lost in the opportunities.

Which of your characters do you feel has grown the most since book one and in what way have they changed?
Jess has changed the most because she has had to grow up quickly. From being a new adult to having a vast amount of responsibility thrust upon her has changed her as a character. For better or for worse? I will let the readers decide that part!

What was your unforgettable moment while writing REVENGE SEEKER?
I wrote a lot of this book while on a writing retreat. Sitting in a room filled with other authors, all of us focused on our work, it felt like a magical place to be. I think that greatly influenced my story.

If you could introduce one of your characters to any character from another book, who would it be and why?
I would love Jess, from this book, to meet Nicci from my werepanther book. Two strong woman with such vastly different backgrounds, but I like to think they would become firm friends (if they didn’t kill each other first!)

Your Favorite Quotes/Scenes from REVENGE SEEKER
My favourite scene is this one, because it shows both Jess’s love, but also her commitment to the cause:
  • She looked up at him. His blue eyes were like darkened pools, and she felt her body involuntarily reach out to him. As their lips joined, the room swept away, the tingle of their melting creating a warmth in her veins. He was the first to pull away, reaching out to tidy a piece of hair behind her ear.
  •  “You’re still beautiful, even as a guard,” he murmured, reaching out and giving her lips another touch with his own.
  • “I’ve missed you.” She curled into his chest, placing her head there to hear the solid thump of his heart.
  • “I’ve missed you too.” His chest rumbled with the rise and fall of his voice. “So, what’s the plan? I met Stauren, and he gave me the basics, but what do you want to do here?”
  • She pulled herself free from his embrace and looked up at him. There were small lines at the corners of his mouth, and more lines drawing tight at his brow. He was right; they were in danger. This was not the time to enjoy each other’s company. As least, not yet.
Choose a unique item from your wallet and explain why you carry it around.
I always carry my library card – even when I’m not in a place that I can use it! It reminds me that if I need to ever get away, escape is just a book away.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
I would love to spend a year on a boat, because to travel from port to port and explore the world for an entire year would be absolutely amazing.

  7. "Do you remember your favorite teacher?" I had different teachers who were favorites, I remember the names of some or most of them, and they were probably in actuality pretty flawed human beings.
