Summer 2012 BNC - Die For Me by Amy Plum

Please join us with the reading of Die For Me by Amy Plum.

My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.

Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were moving to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my life would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.

Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, he put me in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen . . . until I realized that Vincent Delacroix is no normal human—that he has a terrifying destiny and enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.

Can I risk everything for love?

Please join us with the reading of Die For Me by Amy Plum for Summer 2012. Every month we will be choosing a book-of-the-month, cleverly titled BOOK NERD CHOICE (BNC). Anyone can participate. We will have a month to read and discuss it. At the end of the month, we will have a poll in which character from the book that artist James Vallesteros will draw. The drawing will be transformed into bookmarks and all actively participants will receive one.

How to participate? It's simple! We will have our discussions here in the comments! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Please stop over to Amy Plum's Facebook Page and say Hello >>>HERE<<<

***If you have already read Die For Me, you are welcome to JOIN

Amy Plum Vlog Post

Book Nerd Vlog Post

Amy Plum is the author of the International Bestseller DIE FOR ME, which is an Indie Next List pick, Romance Times top pick, and recipient of a starred review from School Library Journal. DIE FOR ME is the first novel in a YA trilogy set in Paris. The second, UNTIL I DIE, will be released in May 2012.

After being raised in Birmingham, Alabama, in a rather restrictive environment, AMY PLUM escaped to Chicago to an even more restrictive environment at a university that expelled people for dancing. (And where she was called to the dean’s office for “wearing too much black”.) After all of that restrictiveness, she was forced to run far far away, specifically to Paris, France, where she only wore black and danced all she wanted.

After five years in Paris, she ventured to London, where she got an M.A. in Medieval Art History, specializing in Early Sienese Painting (1260-1348) mainly because it promised almost no hope of finding a paying job afterward.

Amy managed to find work in the world of art and antiques in New York. But after almost a decade of high-pressure lifestyle in the Big Apple, she swapped her American city for a French village of 1300 inhabitants.

After signing with HarperCollins for the DIE FOR ME series, Amy left her job as an English professor at Tours University to write full-time. She now splits her time between her centuries-old farmhouse in the countryside and Paris’s 11th arrondissement.

She is a huge fan of Edward Gorey and Maira Kalman (and collects both of their books/art), as well as David Sedaris, Amadeo Modigliani, and Ira Glass

I wish there was only today, just right now, and no forever.

It seems fitting that I fell in love in Paris, the most beautiful city in the world. And if I pretend, I can almost believe that my life is normal and everyone I care about is safe.

But as long as I’m with Vincent, “normal” doesn’t exist. Gorgeous, charming, and witty, he’s everything you could ask for in a boyfriend—but his destiny is so much more.

Even more terrifying than his destiny are his dangerous enemies, enemies who will kill for immortality. How are Vincent and I supposed to be together forever if we’re always in danger?

I know I’ll do whatever it takes—even if it means lying to the people I love—to fight against a fate that is trying to tear us apart.

The storytelling style of Amy Plum is absolutely beautiful. It is unmistakably present in Until I Die, the second book of her Revenants Series. Just like the first one, this book prominently grabs you from the very beginning that leaves you fully engaged into its suspenseful plot.

Until I Die takes place a few months after Die For Me left off. Kate and the Revenants are gradually adjusting to each other as Kate is now like a family member. The Revenants feel like they can trust her. Kate uses up most of her time with Vincent and his Revenant Family while training with a sword to sharpen her skills. Since the Numas’ leader was killed, they have been off the radar for a while which keeps the Revenants on continuous alert.

Amy has a magical way of constructing words together to explain in sharp details of the story’s settings and imagining this incredible world that she created takes no effort. Her fluid words take the reader into that setting alongside the remarkable characters. Each character has importance in the story. There were no character-fillers as each had significant roles. They are highly involved with each other which is not seen in many books these days. The story’s dilemma is truly enthralling and full of twists and shocks. The slow-building suspense is executed well. The ending presents an unexpected cliffhanger that simply sucker punches the reader. It sets the setting for the conclusion of the trilogy in the forthcoming “If I Should Die”. A must read for readers who crave originality and incredible storytelling.
