However, everyone is convinced it was self-defense and she is not charged but she’s still considered a killer. And what’s worse, something has lingered on. At times she feels haunted by Brian’s presence. Hoping to forget that part of her life, she hopes for the prep school to keep her life moving forward. But when one of her classmates ends up dead, suspicion immediately points towards Mallory. Now she has to dig deep in her thoughts to extract the details of those two terrible nights to corroborate her innocence.
The shifting of the past and the present seems to always destroy a storyline, however, author Megan manages to pull it off without blurring the story’s timeline. The characters that make this book move forward are the core of the story. Mallory, her best friend Colleen, Reid, and Brian’s brother, Dylan, all have important roles. There are no filler-characters that waste your time. The dialogue and interactions between characters are amazing and it allows readers to piece their own conclusion together. The anticipation of knowing how it plays out will keep readers glued to the pages. Hysteria is a thriller filled with many scary scenes and mysteries. Even when events are obvious, the writing style of Megan manages to keep it scary and surprising. It has all the elements that readers look for in a great book: murder, mystery, friendship, romance, drama and supernatural. A truly satisfying read.
